SaskScapes – “The Quilting Bags”

The Quilting Bags are a group of women who meet each week in Meadow Lake to laugh, share, eat, and of course quilt! Quilters have a bond that goes beyond the details of a fine stitch or a swatch of fabric, and in this episode you’ll hear how each one has been touched by the support they receive from one another.

Oh Kevin, I enjoyed this podcast so much. It is so like our group that I know we would instantly bond with the Meadow Lake ladies. I hope that if they ever came to Saskatoon they would feel free to come for a visit. You have certainly caught the feel of what quilting groups are all about. I think we gave ourselves a name once but nobody could remember what it was so it’s now just the ” Wednesday Girls. ” We have also been known to travel to other quilt shops out of town. There’s a great one in Duck Lake and Warman has “Prairie Chicks “…. close enough to be a nice outing. Fabric and sewing is our passion but the friendships are our life’s blood. Come visit us with your Mom … Christmas we always have a party with the men invited .

Caroline! You are so kind, and believe me, it was BECAUSE of what I know you Wed. night gals have been through that I chose the folks in Meadow Lake. And I was thinking of you all, and wishing there was a way I could get you all in a room together. Who knows, maybe the stars will align and it will happen. Many thanks for your kind words. Talk to you soon.

Kevin, you did an incredible job of of interviewing our group. You saw that we are much more than a quilting group, and that the kindness and support we receive from each other, makes life in our rural community very special. We appreciated your sensitivity and your ability to draw out the best in everyone. Your skills and insight made the experience a pleasure for everyone involved. We are also excited to let others know that quilting as an art form is alive and well in Meadow Lake, SK Thank you!
